Slurry Seals

Slurry Seals are specially engineered mechanical seals designed to handle abrasive, solid-laden fluids (slurries) such as mud, sand, minerals, ash, pulp, and wastewater. These seals protect pumps and rotating equipment from leakage and severe wear caused by hard particles suspended in liquid.

Key Features

Designed for highly abrasive and dirty fluids
Robust construction with wear-resistant materials
Effective sealing under harsh operating conditions
Often equipped with external flushing systems
Reduced risk of clogging and seal face damage
Long service life in heavy-duty applications

How It Works

Slurry seals maintain contact between two extremely hard, smooth faces while a clean fluid film (often from a flush system) separates abrasive particles from the sealing interface, preventing rapid wear and leakage.

Typical Applications

Mining and mineral processing
Sand and gravel handling
Power plant ash handling systems
Chemical slurry transfer
Pulp & paper industry
Wastewater treatment plants
Dredging operations

Advantages

Reliable sealing in severe abrasive conditions
Minimizes equipment downtime
Protects shafts and bearings from contamination
Extends pump lifespan
Suitable for high solids concentration
